45% turned out to vote.
Shame on the 55% who didn't. Shame on you.
It seems that the country, led by London, has descended into ridiculousness.
I see no other course of action.
We must leave London.
Boris Johnson as mayor is not only a joke but an embarrassment and an insult.
The most cosmopolitan city in the world is chaired by a tory bleeder xxx xxxx xxxx xxxxx xxxx, oh god the fucking words escape me I'm almost breathless.
The only way out of this is if a bendy bus knocks the life out of the inbred twat.
Forgive me for ranting but my whole world order has collapsed and I am struggling.
Shame on you those who didn't vote!

I can't believe he won.
So, so disappointing.

I still can't quite believe it, the whole concept of Boris as mayor isn't just distasteful, it just doesn't compute. I mean why would anyone vote for him? Why would you do that?
Plus, "huge turnout" is 45%? SHOCKING.
How can so many people have been taken in? Some of my "friends" even boasted of voting for him. Not sure if was better that they turned out or not. Might need some new friends. Next few years destined to be hell!

It's the first time in the 18 months I've lived here I feel let-down by this wonderful city.
I feel bereft. The only comfort is that so many feel the same.
I can't believe either that 55 per cent of people didn't care one way or the other. I always thought London was a trailblazing, progressive city. But it seems like outer London was pitched against the diversity of inner London.
so heartened that the only people
with a jot of any sense are at Iknit You are all goregous Leonida
If you leave London you'll increase the %age of Tory voters!!! STAY.
I think this is more a two fingers to Ken , than really wanting Boris - who knows he may surprise ! Ooohh just saw a pig fly past.
UGH i feel the same way. in fact we were discussing it at college earlier. sadly i'm not yet eighteen, so couldn't vote. i hope he gets knocked down by a bendy bus before he gets rid of them.
While I will fight to the death for you to have the freedom to express your opinion...I didn't expect to come across such ranting negativity in a knitting blog. Let alone the language!
I'm sorry. Even if you were the last knitting shop in London, I wouldn't shop in your shop anymore: too much in fear of the abuse I would receive because of my political beliefs.
I stopped believing in the Labour Party when they introduced University Tuition fees: just as I was about to go to University. Seemed rather a shame, given that their manifesto was against the introduction of tuition fees. Also rather hypocritical, given the number of Labour MPs who had the benefit of free tuition and grants (not loans). And let us not get onto Iraq, or the change in the 10p base rate of income tax.
Perhaps you should stand for Mayor next time round. You evidently think you could do a better job. And I'm sure the majority of your customers would vote for you, based on the comments to this post.
And yes, I am posting anonymously. Because I'm scared of you.

Hi J
Your comment is very interesting, the paradox in the first para is most interesting.
I suspect you are anonymous for reasons other than the one you stated. I am embarrassed about what I wrote on the blog and it has been edited but at least I had courage to put my name to it.
We are not scary and our shop is brilliant, I'm sorry we'll miss you.
We do very little swearing in the shop.
I don't thing I can do a better job as mayor and I don't think I stated that anywhere at any time.
I do however believe that Boris Johnson will do a terrible job. I didn't really want Ken Livingstone but the or any member of the labour party but if the choice was one or the other, for me there is no choice. Boris Johnson, a racist, sexist, homophobic, cowardly, proven liar, is a ridiculous choice and I'm sure he will prove me right.
I don't know anything about your political beliefs and I, nor anyone else at IKL, would abuse for any reason.
I'm sorry you are anonymous, we could have had a very interesting, heated debate.
Also, this is more than just a knitting blog.
Gxx
Life would be totally boring if we all believed the same thing. I'm impressed that you've let the debate open, which is the way forward. I'm really glad that you responded. Thank you! When I submitted my comment, and realised that it needed moderator approval, I thought "well, that's all chance of it appearing gone." Wrongly. My bad.
You're right: I was paradoxical in my first paragraph. I didn't like what you were saying: and I *really* didn't like the way you said it! You still have the right to say it. We are lucky enough not to live in China: I am lucky enough to be able to respond.
So here. I put my name to my comment this time, with a link through to my blog. Your response to my comment, imo, does you great credit, and shows you to be intelligent and thoughtful.
If I do come to the shop, though, I'll leave politics out of it... partly 'cos I'm not terribly good at it, and partly 'cos I'm for a quiet life.
